Beginning Friday night, tour groups with at least 50 members will be able
to get a permit to enter the royal garden during the evening from 6:30 to
9:30pm, while it previously closed at 4:30pm.
The move is reportedly to make the most use of the garden's opera house.
Night visitors can expect excellent live performances of Peking Opera and
Kun Opera.
However, the fee for night-time entry has not been revealed. The current
fee for daytime visits is 20 yuan per person.
Group tourists are suggested to sign up at the garden's management office
a week in advance.
Located near Shichahai in central Beijing, Gongwangfu is the
best-preserved royal garden left from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD).
